Met - strip search of 15 year-old girl (Child Q) at school in Hackney

Read about our investigation into the actions of Met Police officers regarding the strip search of a 15-year-old girl at a school in Hackney in December, 2020.

The child - known as "Child Q" - was searched on suspicion of possessing cannabis. No drugs were found during the search.

Our investigation began in May 2021 following complaint referrals from the Met made by the child's mother and the school.

We completed our investigation in September 2023 and found that three officers should face a disciplinary hearing for potential gross misconduct.
