Publication or report

This guidance is for police officers, police staff, and those working for the IOPC. Its aim is to help practitioners think critically about their own and others’ language, attitudes, and behaviours, and to provide advice and best practice on effectively challenging victim blaming language, attitudes, and behaviours.

This guidance does not comment on the process of investigation but focuses on communication and working with victim-survivors to enable them to provide details and evidence of their experience.
