We have a wide range of non-investigation roles that offer real challenge and purpose, and contribute towards making a difference in the police complaints system. All our roles are integral to our independence and helping us to ensure everyone can have trust and confidence in the police.
We serve people from every walk of life and aim to reflect this diversity in our own organisation. We are not looking for people solely from a policing or legal background, all backgrounds will be considered for our non-investigations roles.
This Strategy, Engagement and Communications directorate is responsible for the development and delivery of our strategy, policies and standards to support the realisation of our vision to build trust and confidence in the police.
The Strategy, Policy and Impact team are critical to this aim by focusing on delivering strategy, policy, learning and research; quality, standards and guidance; business planning and public affairs.
This directorate is also responsible for increasing awareness of the police complaints system, and our role within it. The Communications and Stakeholder Engagement teams have been brought together to help achieve this. They are a strategic partner for the organisation providing expertise and know-how on the execution of strategic communications. The Directors of Engagement are responsible for developing productive relationships with key stakeholders including policing leaders, senior partners within the system, the media, and both national and local communities.
All of this work is underpinned by our Legal department. This incorporates Legal Services who are responsible for advising both operational and non-operational teams across the organisation. The Data Protection and FOI team is responsible for making sure we stay compliant around data laws and regulation. The Presenting Unit is responsible for presenting cases at misconduct hearings that we have investigated or reviewed.
The Finance and Corporate Resources directorate are focused on helping to modernise the organisation by leading and developing a strategic approach to financial planning, procurement, estates and facilities, ICT, data management and business continuity.
This division includes the Digital, Data, and Technology (DDaT) function which brings together specialisms across ICT, Data and Information teams to deliver our ICT and Data strategies. DDaT are responsible for setting the standards on how we store, process, transmit and receive data, so that we can all make better use of our data and provide the right digital services to the right people in an accurate, legally compliant and personalised way. They also lead on ensuring our systems are designed to be secure, stable, meet your needs and continue to be supported to the high standards you’ve come to expect.
Finance help budget holders with all their budget management responsibilities, and support the business planning and budgeting process. They also ensure we carefully manage our expenditure and income. The Procurement team provides specialist advice and support to help us to manage how we procure services and manage contracts.
The role of Risk and Audit is to provide an ongoing review of the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes.
Facilities Management and Estates work hard to ensure all of our offices are well managed and support is provided on site for all staff.
Our Governance team support Unitary Board and its committees as well as Management Board and six Assurance Groups.
The People and Change team are responsible for delivering the People strategy. This involves developing our employee offer, ensuring we are an employer of choice and delivering our equality, diversity, and inclusion commitments. The division is split into two main functions - People Services and Organisational Development. The team's ultimate purpose is to support the organisation to achieve its strategic objective of being a high-performing organisation.
Transformation is responsible for delivering our transformation programme to ensure we select the right changes that will deliver our ambitions. This division supports the organisation to make sure those changes are designed, implemented and embedded effectively. They work closely with all teams to co-design changes and make sure they are made at a pace that works. The division also measures the impact of the changes and provides assurance to senior leaders that performance improvements are on track.
The Director General's Office provides accurate and timely advice and support to the Director General across the breadth of her responsibilities, working with both internal and external stakeholders.
