A Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officer is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow (Wednesday 12 May) charged with two offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

The charges follow an investigation conducted by the force and directed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Police Constable Shareen Kashif, aged 29, from the Central East Command Unit, will make a first appearance before Westminster Magistrates Court.

It is alleged that she hid cash and allowed the use of building society accounts for cash deposits when she knew or suspected the money was the proceeds of crime.

PC Kashif was suspended from duty by the force after she was arrested in July last year by the MPS Anti Corruption Command, part of the Directorate of Professional Standards, during an investigation. At the investigation’s conclusion, a file of evidence was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which made the decision to charge the officer last week (4 May).
