Hertfordshire police community support officer to appear in court on multiple charges
A Hertfordshire police community support officer (PCSO) is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow to face multiple charges, following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
PCSO Keith Sayers, aged 42, is due to appear at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday 14 November charged with misconduct in public office, sexual communication with a child, and three charges relating to unlawfully accessing police computer systems.
The charges relate to alleged offending between September 2021 and January 2024.
Our investigation began in February 2024, following a mandatory conduct referral by Hertfordshire Constabulary.
Following the completion of our investigation in July 2025, we decided to send a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charges.
UPDATE - March 2026
Keith Sayers was not arraigned on the charge of sexual communication with a child. His alleged communications with the child will be considered under the offence of misconduct in public office (MIPO). Sayers pleaded guilty to this offence and also pleaded guilty to three charges relating to unlawfully accessing police computer systems. A further hearing is scheduled to take place to address the basis of the guilty plea to the MIPO charge and further progress of the case.
