A Cambridgeshire Constabulary officer will appear in court to face a charge of racially aggravated public order, following an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation.

Detective Constable Daniel Buckett is due to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 21 July 2022.

The charge relates to an incident when the officer was off-duty at Lola Lo nightclub, Cambridge, on 3 December 2021.

Our investigation followed a conduct referral from the force on 8 December 2021.

After concluding our investigation in March 2022 we passed a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charge.

  • DC Buckett was found not guilty on 21 November, 2022 by a district judge at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
  • At a misconduct hearing on 13 September 2023, DC Buckett was given a final written warning after gross misconduct was found.
  • Following the September 2023 decision of the disciplinary panel not to dismiss Cambridge Constabulary detective constable Daniel Buckett after gross misconduct was proven at a hearing, we issued legal proceedings to judicially review the decision. As a result of the sanction decision being quashed by the High Court, the panel met on 29 October 2025 to reach a fresh decision on sanction and decided the now-former officer would have been dismissed with immediate effect had he not already left the force.
