The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has concluded its investigation into the evidence given at the inquest into the death of Sean Rigg and has decided to provide its investigation report to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for consideration as to whether criminal charges should be brought against two serving Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers.
The IPCC investigation began on 1 August 2012 following a referral from the MPS.
On 27 March 2013 two serving MPS officers and one retired MPS officer were arrested by IPCC investigators in connection with the investigation.
A sergeant and police constable were arrested on suspicion of perjury and perverting the course of justice.
The IPCC has notified the retired officer, who was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, that his actions have not been referred to the CPS.
